It is recommended that you pump or breast feed no fewer than every 4 hours if you're trying to keep your supply up...pumping for longer than 15-20 mins shows no statistical data of increasing milk supply...however, actual breastfeeding longer than 15-20 minutes may have an effect as it is a different type of stimulation. The commercial pumps available are not the same as a hospital grade pump. Medela makes a hospital grade pump, but I only have their "home version". BabysRUs rents the hospital grade pumps...I've been advised by lactation consultants that the hospital grade pumps are the closest you can get to proper stimulation. Also, try fenugreek. It has helped me with milk production and it's effects are known - I'm not well-versed on holistic medicines, but anybody who's had diminished milk supply usually knows about fenugreek! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> GNC carries fenugreek.....
