DietRootBeer (love that name ) To answer your questions, NO the govt. of the US does not give anything for multiple births. Our only benefit will be when we file our taxes next year... we will get a credit for each of our children provided that we have no tax liability (and I don't think we will, not unless we win the lottery).
I am still working, but my mom (who is a labor and delivery RN) and my OBGYN who referred me out of her office and to maternal fetal medicine (triplets is too much for her to handle she said) think I will be on bed rest by about 18-24 weeks. I am sure I will be put on limited hours before that though, my job is very very demanding. I went all day, two days in a row two weeks ago without sitting down all day. I even ate lunch in about 5 minutes standing up... that won't fly for me anymore
It's silly to feel this way so early but I already get short of breath on long walks and up and down stairs. My mom reassured me that it's because most pregnant women's body's adjust over a time period. Mine is adjusting in a matter of days. She showed me where to feel my uterus by laying on my back and she said it feels like a 14-16 week sized uterus, not an 8 week one.
Mark and I were very purposeful about doing this IVF while I am in the military because we knew multiples were a possibility (although we were thinking TWINS!!!) and because my medical insurance covers ALL of the delivery. We are very blessed for these two things. I will still get my military paycheck while on bedrest, which is a huge huge blessing to us.
As far as hospital bed rest.. I will probably be on hospital bed rest anywhere from 24-30 weeks, depending on how I am doing on home bed rest and any complications. We are also very fortunate that I am young (22) and in pretty good shape, by doctor was saying those are two very important factors.
The government doesn't pay for hospital stays in the US. But luckly my insurance will pay for the babies stays in the NICU as well.
Lauren, thanks for sending your blessings!!! We need all we can get
Thanks to everyone for the support!
