Anyone had results from this combo? When RT is not on colistin hes on TOBI inhaled. Just wondering how the 2 affected you. He just started colistin this week. He has a dry hacking cough that wont let him rest....& has been running a fever off & on all week. Breathing fast & just doesnt feel good.

We have had great results from Zyvox in my older daughters MRSA. She cultured it for years, and after two weeks on Zyvox, she has had two clear MRSA cultures She was on Tobi at the same time, even though she doesn't culture PA, he just wanted to be proactive just in case it was in there hiding (her sister has cultured PA). It tastes horrible, but the Zyvox worked better than IV Vancomycin for her.

How long before should I see a difference? Well he was on it not to long ago & he did perk up but about 2-3 weeks later back to couging & throwing up in the AM. It NEVER fails after he gets off IVs its about 2-3 weeks later he seems yucky again!?!
The only thing they have changed is he is on an inhaled antibotic EVERY month now! But that only treats PA! ( TOBI & colistin ) So I dont know, we still havent heard when we are going to UVA, the paperwork thing is the hold up! Keep Reece in your prayers please! Thanks!

We have found Zyvox to work well, too, though Maggie does not yet culture PA. Depends on how "bad" Maggie's flare-up is to how fast the zyvox works,, I have noticed a difference in her between 2-4 days of being on it. Though last November, It took close to 1 1/2 weeks for things to truly settle down. i hope the meds kick in soon and Reece starts to feel a little better soon. Also, when Maggie goes off her zyvox, she goes onto bactrim after prophylacticaly. These meds are all oral.

Zyvox work wonders for Jess's MRSA infection.
unfortunately the side affects almost did her in....poor kid.
now when she starts coughing we START with Bactrim and only use Zyvox if necessary.

Reece is doing great on it! Ive noticed a HUGE difference. Hes fever is gone, not coughing as much & hes breathing easier & slower & not tired all the time. He has about 8 more days left!

Thanks for all your input.
