    Our clinic said that the daily needed amount of salt is equal to a single salt packet that you can get at McDonalds (for an infant). To make it easy for me, I'd open a new pack each day & spread it out throughout the days bottles (I pumped as well & added it to bottles along with formula).

    Which vest do you use?

    We have the Smartvest. I like that it has only 1 hose & it is easy to use ... however, the vest "rides" up during use and the hose connector seems to dig into Max's tummy. Seems really uncomfortable to me. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to compare it with to know if another vest would...

    We have BCBS as well & luckily they didn't challenge it. Our monthly co-pay is about $63/month. I agree with Andrea about getting your CF clinic involved! Good Luck!

    When are vests typically prescribed?

    Max is 14 months old & he just got his. I believe that his chest measurement had to be at least 16" to qualify. Chest percussion (while he was awake) had become nearly impossible, so the vest was a welcome relief!
