    THIS IS ABOUT MALES

I think name calling is kind of juvenile and uncalled for-- particularly name calling anonymously. As for Tigger, let's bear in mind they (he or she?) are only 14 years old. Thanks for the compliment Lindsey

can someone help with these questions?

Well S Aereas is simple staph I believe. P Aeruginosa is the most common strain of pseudomonas (I think thats the common one), so many CFers have it and while it obviously needs treatment and monitoring, it isn't a death sentence or anything. The other two you mentioned I haven't heard of. If...

Can male carriers have an absence of the vas deferens?

I agree that is very rare- if it wasn't, a lot of us wouldn't be here!

    Flying with Vest

Right. I've flown post 9-11 with everything but the Vest (I prefer flutter) and feeding stuff (I didn't have a tube yet), and had no problems. The biggest problems we have ever had was with my air compressor; a lot of people have thought it was a bomb or something, at the very least they were...

    My New Tattoo!

Because Em is obsessed with salt. She carries a salt shaker in her purse LOL. And, salt has so much to do with CF I think its a creative way to sort of reflect your having CF in body art (as opposed to like, that really cool lung tattoo someone on here posts about periodically). It looks good...

    First month with the Vest

Bambi, you are right about being upside down being helpful. I was at a friends house earlier, and was laying on my stomach with a pillow around my stomach, and just being in that position (not doing CPT or trying to be clearing out, just hanging around) made me cough.

    Hoarseness

I know that Tobi causes hoarseness for some people, but your daughter isn't on that. I think a lot of the inhaled medicines we take have the potential to cause hoarseness. Right now allergies are awful, so you're right and that is probably it. Good luck.

two CFer's in the same school

One thing I have to say-- If it is her district and not yours, regardless of what the school is saying now, they can't DENY the other girl an education because of your fears. What extra faculty would be needed to enable limited contact between the two girls? A former enforcer of restraining...

    A question

You are correct in thinking that we are correct in that if you are NOT a carrier the baby can't possibly have CF. In bio this year, we've worked on Punnett squares and here's basically what I did in the situation that Dad has CF and Mom isn't even a carrier: Dad-> AA AA Mom | v aa...

    Toddler Abdominal Bloating

Unfortunately, CFers will always have a little bit of that tummy. I have it. But, I don't FEEL bloated, my stomach has just always been that way-- it's not a physically uncomfortable thing in the way eating TONS and then being bloated is. At the same time, I don't look like I'm pregnant or...

    Cipro and Prednisone

I've had C Dif a few times. But it doesn't occur every time I am on an antibiotic. In terms of stomach tolerance, I had no trouble with the treatments. Obviously, it will take a few days to kick in, so you will likely continue to have stomach problems, but the pill itself didn't seem to cause...

How does spouse or gf/bf deal with coughing?

I can't relate to this in a bf/gf way, but can from going on vacation with friends and having sleepovers. My friends must sleep like rocks, because they are never bothered by if I wake up coughing. What they do say though, is that if I'm sicker and fall asleep before them, I moan while I'm sleeping.

two CFer's in the same school

Can you clarify whether you are in a public or private school? If it is public, the school legally had no right to ever promise you to not admit any other CFers-- the right to an education in the US school system is a major right offered to children; they can't REFUSE a student districted to...

Can your gene mutation define your symptoms or severity of symptoms?

Sham- you don't take enzymes? Lynsey- I am also Deltaf508, and have digestive and lung involvement. However, I will say as my lung problems became more severe, my digestive issues (mainly, my inability to gain weight) became more troublesome also.

    A question

Just a comment- if having a CF child is your concern (and a reasonable one at that), since you will most likely do IVF anyway, you could always opt to do PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis). Julie's statistics are correct-- and good luck!

    Cipro and Prednisone

I've had C Dif before. Basically, they treat it with oral antibiotics (yes, ironically this is brought on by antibiotics, but treated with them). Your gastro symptoms (I'm assuming its diarhea and the like?) should go away with the C Dif treatment
