    "Cf related Diabetes?"

I've always thought CFRD can't be controlled by diet.

What does large bulky stools mean?

What about Pancrease? My whole life, they've worked best for me. Also, I'm figuring the doctors are leery of giving too many enzymes because of the info on colonic strictures that came out about 12 years ago? Let me tell you this- I've had doctors basically say to me that the medical community...

    How do you?

Julie- they have cancer and CF patients together? My hospital has a floor solely for cancer patients, and the CF patients aren't allowed to room on that floor. It's strictly 'cancer only'.

    How do you?

I am also allowed to keep enzymes at my bedside, which is great because I tend to snack a LOT, and also because my mom stays the night, so she brings food from the 'outside' for me, and that usually doesn't coincide with the meal that comes from the cafeteria. As for hep-lock, what about...

Our Very Own Coll on Conan O'Brien!!

Haha I didn't even hear it that much! Well, actually, I fell asleep right after Juliette Lewis' interview- at home that is, not during the actual taping LOL. I heard one REALLY prominent one during his monologue and I was like "YES!" The taping was really fun, I had a good time and its easy to...

    Favourite Authors

Nods in agreement about Give Me One Wish, by Jacquie Gordon. One of the best books I've ever read, regardless of its CF subject matter. I can't think of specific authors otherwise right now ,but I will look at my shelves later.

    Minty Fresh Breath

Is it halotosis, or 'pseudomonas breath'. If you sniff your mucus and you are a pseudomonas culturer, you'll notice it has a slightly sweet smell. Sometimes that smell transfers to my breath. I chew gum a lot, and drink water on my own (not just because of bad breath)

    Scared, need assurance

A decent point, but I wouldn't equate four wheeling with going to work in terms of the level of stress/strenousness.

    Clubbed Fingers

Clubbing is nothing to be worried about. It doesn't cause any harm healthwise, and it isn't painful or anything of the like. It's hard to describe what it looks like, except to say that the nail is rounded and takes up the entire top of the finger.

    Lung Transplant List

RE: Lung Transplant List To all of you who posted that Nicole is being negative and ruining the other person's celebration, a few things: a) the original poster posted this not as a celebration of her boyfriend's listing, but as a survey of sorts to see who else is listed, TXed, etc. She...

    Echogenic Bowel

I had echogenic bowel. Here's my basic story: I was born in the stone ages (that is, before genetic testing). At my mom's 17 week sonogram, they saw the echogenic bowel. They told her it could possibly be a congenital defect or be caused by cystic fibrosis. After that, my had weekly (or maybe...

    delta f508 and y1092x

Melissa, Emily's right, CF varies much too much from person to person to know what a particular person's case will be like. Good luck and please come back with any other questions <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

probably overreacting but i gotta ask

A CF doctor should be plenty sufficient for now. Most of the other specialists you mentioned (with the exception of maybe a GI doctor), CF patients usually take them on because of complications that arise as CF progresses. It is always a good idea to mention non CF issues to your CF doc...
