What is the best way for a non-CFer to react to you and/or CF?

    - I like it when people continue to talk if I'm coughing - If they were not talking, I want them to ignore my coughing - I don't like the question "Are you OK?" after coughing - if they know I have CF, they should know it's normal for me to cough. The reason I don't like this question is that...

    Struggles

Good thread Scott. I think most of us feel similar to you. I often think that it's kinda of unfair that we're not even able to hang out with other CFers - people who know exactly what we go through. I also hear from different people that the cross-infection risk is not quite as high as some...

    To the "chubby" CFers

I am one of the thin ones - 5'3'' and 100 lbs. Like my lung function, my weight doesn't fluctuate. I would like to gain a few pounds and I think it'd be better for my health, but my doctor tells me that once the lungs are used to functioning a certain way at this weight, if I gain more than just...

    Toni and Cipro

Hi Debbie! I have taken both Tobi and Cipro. Actually I just stopped a round of Cipro. Neither of them caused me a sore throat, as far as I recall. Yes, if we read the lists of side effects of meds we will be paranoid... I try to avoid that unless I start feeling something odd. Most of them...

    Exercising???

Great that you're getting a treadmill too! I've been wanting to get one as I seriously see it as something I could get on board often. I'd just walk, but at least it would be more consistent than the wii, which has a lot of breaks. I was also thinking - do you know what really motivates me to...

Thanks for your answers. I always have mucus. Does this mean that I always have an infection or inflammation? (Probably another reason why I need to start on the Vest!) I once spoke to a CF friend who told me he spent about 2 hours every morning going through his CF treatment routine and if it...

Read this! Aggressive antibiotic treatments may not always be the best answer

Thanks for this post, very informative. I can add my own experience - I have had FEV1 of around 35% for 10 years, it doesn't really fluctuate, for better or worse. I am 28 and have only been on IVs twice. Every time I get an infection, I am treated with a 2 week round of oral antibiotics and I...

Isn't Pseudomonas one of the main causes of mucus in the lungs? I would think that No Pseudomonas = very little mucus = feeling better. Please enlighten me.
