Newborn Screening Results, going for Sweat Test

Heather's post pretty much echoed what I would say.

I wanted to add a couple points about the sweat test though. At your son's age it can be hard to get a sufficient sample to get accurate results, so negative results...

    Slow Moving Bowel Obstruction

Kristen~ Re. signs of an obstruction: everyone varies but in Emily's case it doesn't always start with pain. It starts with symptoms so vague it's hard to tell the difference between this or tummy bug. There is loose stool- which is what can get around the building obstruction, at first in...

    dumb question

That is true, getting run down due to constant illness won't help. I hadn't thought of that as an indirect contributing factor potentially resulting in culturing something nasty. In Emily's case, constant bugs result in frequent exacerbations of what she already is colonized with (staph) but...

    INFINITY PUMP PRODUCT ALERT

Yeah, it makes sense to me to try and introduce a wider range of foods first since that will definitely increase odds of being able to maintain weight. Those foods offer so many high fat/high calorie options to help keep weight up and I'm not surprised he wasn't able to tolerate them before...

    INFINITY PUMP PRODUCT ALERT

I am no professional but I think early childhood is at a better age to try it... you have quite a few years before her system will be challenged by the enormous changes of puberty to see if she can maintain her growth curve on her own. Babyhood/toddlerhood kids grow SO much proportionately...

Emily uses Peptamen Jr. 1.5. She is doing great with it and since getting the tube 7mo ago has gained 7-8lbs!! We decided to go with that one because of the broken down protein and high proportion of MCT fat. I hear you in not...

    Mild Case of CF

I agree, it's very overwhelming. CF came as a total surprise to us, too, even though by the time she was dx'ed she was quite ill we never once considered THAT as a possibility! When a specialist she'd been referred to for her growth failure suggested a sweat test, I was floored... and then...
