    How is your clinic run?

Ours has scheduled times. Check in and go directly to the exam room. I stay in there except for PFTs. For the most part its pretty orderly. The staffs great. It can still be slow if they have a number of sick patients.

Old folks: how did you do it?

I just turned 50 after Thanksgiving. I couldn't agree more with azdesertrat. I to had a large family and was never treated differently. My parents and both grandmothers placed high expectations on all of us. They demanded excellent grades in school. Early on they talked about college as a...

    meeting someone with cf

I've been outed before at work. I work for a large company and many of my co-workers don't know I have CF. We also employ a number of physician and nurses who I'm sure at times suspect it. I've been approached by people who either know what the disease is or have a family member with it...

This question use to haunt me most of my life. My brother struggled his whole life while my symptoms have been mild in comparison. I think most of it must be genetic. Somewhere below the DF508 we got different things. Now I just try to live life to the fullest. I appreciate the fact that I...

i have cf and worry of dying

Enzo, I'll be 50 in November.(that's scary). At 17 my numbers were probably similar to yours. Although they didn't have anywhere near the kinds of tests and treatments that we have today. My scores now are usually in the 90s-low 100s. I've led a very happy and productive life. I finished...

    Ethics question for grad class

I think its a great question. The mother is literally in charge but for at most 12 more months. I'm sure that's why the case study has the patients age at 17. Yes the mother can force life saving heroics now but not for much longer. As others have said, the medical professions have to get...

    Camping

I use to camp all the time, both as a child and when my children were younger. Depending on where you go a lot of parks have electric hook ups. I did a round of TOBI sitting in the tent with a long drop cord. I take the flutter too.

    What year were you diagnosed?

I was diagnosed at 2 in 1964. My brother was 6 years older and much sicker. My mom saw enough similarites that once they figured out his issues she had me tested too. The thing I remember most was sleeping in mist tents as a grade school kid. They had this plastic tent that went over the...

I will be 50 next November. At 26 I had finished college. I got married that year and we moved to Chicago. I was in good health. Still am for the most part. I'm still not a big exercise guy. Meaning I don't hit the gym or stuff. Instead I found things I liked to do to keep active. Hike, Bike...
