    Sudden rapid heartbeat?

You've had a traumatic event in which your life was in danger. Now, you are supposed to leave the one safe place where you feel they can save you. It makes complete sense that you would be terrified and full of anxiety. Is that what your racing hb is and chest tightness is? I don't know...

    Pfts's and weight changes

For me, the decline in the lungs seems to cause the weight loss, not vice versa. My weight has been super-steady since high school except during/following exacerbations and now since culturing worse bugs. I am consistently 4-5 lbs under where I feel I should be. But overall my diet and...

    RA Factor in lung disease??

There's a link between bronchiectasis and RA. If you google "bronchiectasis rheumatoid" you'll see many studies. This one loops smoking into the picture because it is linked to RA, but the study is interesting overall because it touches on various chicken-egg questions--one being whether...

    Oral antibiotics

Thanks, Vasiliki. That was my impression too of how things should be--better in a week or sometimes less. I've been really careful about taking the pill hours away from vitamins, probiotics and even NAC, but that's a good thing to point out. I think the levaquin was chosen for me based on a...

    Oral antibiotics

In April I did 10 days of levaquin, felt decent for about a week, two days of which I was still on the levaquin. Then i was worse than ever and put on another 14 days. I felt better i.e. no fever and lighter mucus, around day eight again. I've also had a pretty constant ache in one of my...

I've got a cold - Can I still work out?

This is the question I ask myself all the time, especially the past few months. I've run a fever probably 25 out of the last 30 days and been on oral abs for most of these days too. I appear to be viral, bacterial and allergy suffering. The abs lessen the lower lobe issues but not the fever /...

Jerry Cahill is in for lungs for real this time!

Praying for a smooth recovery! Jerry inspired me to start exercising a few years ago. I literally would say to myself, if he can run with O2, I have no excuse not to get to the gym. Best wishes!!

    Rash around my bottom/scrotum

I don't see anything wrong with this question. The nurses and doctors taking care of the OP should have ensured he didn't end up in this situation. Hygiene, fresh sheets, and changes in position should be monitored by nurses and doctors, not the patient who may be out of it from meds and in...

    Hypertonic saline (hts) & electronics

Thanks for the additional input. I should get a screen protector. And a desktop would be better because all the complicated electronics would be under a desk, not 12 inches from my face :-). But I so prefer my laptop...habit. Keith, I've seen my husband do the alcohol prep pad thing on some...

Coughing judgment at the gym (or any public space)

What a ___! Sorry. If you explain you're not contagious, I don't see why someone has to be like that. I cough in my dance classes. I cough at the rock climbing gym. If I get looks and sometimes just as a preventative measure, I tell people i've a lung problem and it's not contagious. I hope that...

    allergies, allergy meds, black circles

Here is our plan for my six yr old who has a bad pollen allergy. No CF, but I think some of this is helpful. Shower before bed No open windows in bedroom Allegra Bepreve eye drops (prescription) or Zatador (sp?) OTC Nasonex Saline sinus wash 2x a day -- haven't been successful with this but I...
