i have mild gestational diabetes :(

I developed gestational diabetes while pregnant. My weight wasnt poor, but it wasnt what is expecting from a normal pregnancy so they didnt even try to control things with diet. I was put on insulin and just ate normally. I only put on 18 pounds during the whole pregnancy so I couldnt imagine if I had to restrict or relearn how to eat.

I am pancreatic insufficient and only delivered early by c section because of my history of hemoptysis. The baby & I were doing well until month 8 rolled around and my hemoptysis reared its head.

Not knowing how easily you burn weight with exacerbations etc I would think you are ok weight wise, but if restrict your diet to control your sugars ends up being a real problem then address it.

Good Luck!

I was told by my cf doc and my ob who has had many cf moms that the risk of preterm is due to mainly lung related issues. Now I'm sure if u were very manlourished or thin that would increase the risk, but you aren't! Gestational db doesn't mean you are increased chance to go preterm. GD is very common, esp with cfers. I'm upset to hear you say that 'if you go next week you'll be 28 wks and the baby will be fine.'-Why would you go early, like next week?
Is the baby fine? It irritates me that some docs put this fear in women when if you sit back at look at the situation calmly, everything is probably fine.
I gained 20 lbs with my preg-the docs nagged me and nagged me all 9 mons to gain more, but I just didn't have the apetite. I was fine-carried full term, 41 wks actually. Maybe you have other issues I'm not familiar with-could you explain?
How are your lungs? Are you on lots of meds? Have you asked the ob if everything with the baby is fine?
Did you have weight issues before?
See with me, I knew I never had weight isssues prior to preg-I was always about 125 at 5'3. I knew that once that baby wasn't pressing on my tummy anymore my apetite would return and I'd be fine. Logic. Don't let them shove food down your throat-your weight is more than healthy! Focus on the GD issue, don't get too heavy bc that can make it worse. Thats my advice-eat what you want and forget the weight gain worry. Just relax-gained more than enough weight and not gaining tons more isn't going to send u into preterm labor. If there aren't any other big cf issues going on here, enjoy your pregnancy and know that though many cf moms do go early-it doesn't mean you will. The docs had me biting my nails every week worrying I was gonna go too early and not be prepared....and there i was a week overdue eating spicy food so I'd go into labor!
I would say to you-relax, enjoy the pregnancy, and look at things from a broad perspective-you have gained enough weight (regardless of what 'cf' standrds say, they are always trying to shove too much food down our throats!), your baby is healthy and fine and everything else is fine. There is no reason to go preterm.
