Ok let me explain something. I wash the nebs with boiling hot soapy water and then stick them in the sterilizer!

The point of the sterilizer is that it uses dry heat to sterilize the nebs and aero-chamber leaving them DRY.

Letting nebs air dry or just storing them away wet is very dangerous when talking about germs/bacteria.

The CF clinic told me that air drying or hand drying is asking for germs to attach themselves. And the small hard to reach spots on the nebs and chambers are hard to dry properly.

At my last CF clinic they told me to use a hairdryer to dry them (Yuk I have betting things to do with my time!

The GermGuardian dries them with little effort from me and holds them until you are ready to use again.

Do you understand now?

So I think we have estalished that the germ guardian does not sterilize worth a darn. I have heard that it does a great job at drying, although the instructions do warn that things must be dry prior to placing them in it.

I don't want to sound like I am the almighty sterilizing woman, but I have done a bit of research on this subject, with a lot of input from some really wonderful people on this forum.
That being said, in order to kill the bacteria they must get to a certain temp (something like over 160 degrees) for over 10 minutes.
Here is what I do (in case you were interested)
I wash the nebs with soap and rinse. I place the nebs in boiling filtered water and cover with the lid. I boil for 20 minutes and strain out the water. I let the nebs dry on a little bottle drying thing and when dry I place in a closed container.
Blessings,
Missa

I thought it looked promising, too, until someone here did a temperature test on it and it didn't get hot enough to sterilize. So I wash in hot soapy water and boil the nebs.
