I believe my wife explained our algorithm in her follow up reply. And what purpose of the Germ Gaurdian is in our process.

"<i>Ok let me explain something. I wash the nebs with boiling hot soapy water and then stick them in the sterilizer!

The point of the sterilizer is that it uses dry heat to sterilize the nebs and aero-chamber leaving them DRY.

Letting nebs air dry or just storing them away wet is very dangerous when talking about germs/bacteria.

The CF clinic told me that air drying or hand drying is asking for germs to attach themselves. And the small hard to reach spots on the nebs and chambers are hard to dry properly.

At my last CF clinic they told me to use a hairdryer to dry them (Yuk I have betting things to do with my time!

The GermGuardian dries them with little effort from me and holds them until you are ready to use again.

Do you understand now? </i>"

We are not using it as stricly the only "sterilizer" but as a means of safely drying them.

If you do a search for Germ Guardian here you'll find lots of useful information and debate. Many of us have asked. Nicole (Mom2lillian) even did a temperature test (see blog Feb 2008).

I have one and love it! It keeps the neb part dry and clean and contained in between treatments. We <i><b>wash and boil</b></i> the parts first, then shake before drying in the GG. So its the best of both worlds.

Chuck I agree w/ ya...I think "eathansky" was a little arrogant and rude. I didn't read anything in this post to confirm anything had been "established" Maybe I missed the post for the "MD"....

Anyways, I think there are a lot of effective things, and no one way of doing things is 100%, my relaxed way of doing things, or should I say, almost no REAL sterilization, except hot water and soap, and worst yet, hot TAP water and then boiling weekly or diswasher has been working fine for 10plus years, but the longer my child stays culture free the more I get scared of thinking about germs and know I should be doing better w/ neb cups.

I would be interested in trying the UV wand and wonder what others think about it..I am going to talk to the dr at next clinic visit

Thank you Jane.
Your process sounds very similar to ours.

When I typed this post I was hoping to help someone else who needed to make their life a little easier and less stressful, I was not asking for opinions or help.

If you find the germguardian works for you, GREAT if you don't that is fine with me.
