So I just started using OPK kits this month to give this fertility thing another go...<div>But I'm a little concerned about the fact that I'm halfway through my cycle (which is about 28 days) & I'm on day 15 and still no ovulation...? I get regular period flows lasting 2-3 days and ending on the 4th day. So i'm not sure what the deal is with all of this?</div><div><br></div><div>I'll be honest i'm a little frustrated. </div><div>On a positive, i've booked another clinic appt with the fertility specialist doc later this month to actually go through with IUI in the next 2 months...I'm really scared about this all as I have been trying to get pregnant naturally for years!</div><div><br></div><div>Anyway I've been taking the Robitussin liquid and evening prime rose oil caps 3 times a day, plus folic acid 5mg per day. yet in my efforts I just feel like it maybe a losing battle...sorry you just have days like these as lots of you on here know...</div><div><br></div><div>I'm also a little scared to get too excited about the IUI in case that falls through too. But I guess if the Lord wants us to have a baby he'll be the one to make it happen.</div><div><br></div><div>Sorry if this is depressing some to read this...just having one of those down moments. Woulnd't be normal if we didn't.</div><div><br></div>

Sarah, first off that picture is GORGEOUS!!!

Second, I HIGHLY recommend charting your basal body temperature to figure out your ovulation pattern. When I started doing that (and also charting cervical mucus) and using OPKs what I found is that my body gears up for ovulation several times, starting around 10-14 days into my cycle (when it should be), but then continually fails to ovulate. The first cycle I tracked, I had *22* days of fertile mucus before I actually ovulated!!! The last cycle, I had 16 days. I am pretty sure that what is happening is that I am having continual delayed ovulation because of the stress my body is under from CF.

I actually got 2 positive OPKs and then didn't ovulate, so I think I no longer trust OPKs!!! Charting your temperature will help you figure out exactly what is going on, if you are anovulatory, ovulating late, trying and failing to ovulate like I am, etc.

And I completely understand about the down moments!!! You are in my prayers!

Hi!

If you are getting a 2nd line to show up on your OPK, then that typically means you are ovulating. It's really hard to time it to actually do a test and get the 2nd line to show up darker than the test line. Mine never did and I ovulated every month. My fertility nurse told me to just watch for a second line and not worry about if it was actully darker. If you tested yourself over a longer period, there probably won't be a line at all a few days before ovulation and won't be there again a few days after.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hey Sarah - I'm not sure I have mentioned this but CindyLou is right... I would chart your BBT too. The couple of times i used an OPK i got a positive but then didn't even ovulate until like 4 days later. (i knew bc of my charting)
Sometimes your body will try to ovulate but for other reasons, it just doesn't happen... There are many tests your fertility specialist can do to ensure you are ovulating!

Hey Girlys,

Thanks for all your helpful replies!...I needed that! ^^

@ Cindy: Thank you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Me and my husband have been doing photography for a while...but this is our best landscape pic yet and my fav! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Will get this BBT thingy me gig another go this month and the next.
Only time will tell whether I'm ovulating properly.

Erin I think you maybe right, I have two lines showing up but the test line is always darker than the other. Though at one stage of my cycle I nearly got the 2 lines the same at day 14 of my cycle.

Anyway, will be asking as many loaded questions as possible to my fertility specialist when go later on this month.

I read on here somewhere that you can buy this book called: 'Taking charge of your fertility' just wondered if that has help other on here considerably or just another thing to buy...? Am thinking of getting it, but just wanted to know what others on here thought?

I havent read thru all the replies so sorry if this is a repeat. But evening primrose oil can delay your ovulation. It has estrogenic properties and if you dont have probs with your cycles and your hormones are at normal levels it can def delay you ovulation. Just thought I would let you know that.
I took it a few years back and it delayed my ovulation by 10 days.
