What you said had nothing to do with opinion, you didn't even put an opinion, you made a sarcastic hurtful statement aimed purely at making someone feel bad about a choice they had to make....or considered.
You do have a right to voice your opinion, so long as you qualify that opinion, but you do not have the right to judge or blab a hurtful comment at someone who was sharing something extremely personal.
It's about respect.
