Absorbtion

I have seen a huge improvement in my vitamin levels since I started taking CF Source Softgels ABDEKs plus zinc TWICE a day. (I used to only take them once) I also take calcium and magnesium twice a day. I'm no longer deficient in any of these.

I am having iron deficiency at the moment. (for the last 6 months at least) I'm currently taking one "Slow FE" iron pill once a day for two months. At that time I'll have my labs drawn again, checking for ferritin and hemoglobin levels. If that doesn't work, I'm going to buy Floradix, an iron supplement liquid. It's more expensive ($25/month), that's why I'm holding off, but it's supposed to be more readily absorbed. It's a different kind of iron than any iron pill on the market.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm just getting worried about all of this. I can gain weight and keep it on; but Have vitamin defiecencies? It doesn't make sence to me, but thats what the Dr's keep telling me. Last year I had rickets and scurvy (both kept in check with supplments). Then it was my zinc that was low and now iron and a sever b6 deficiency.

I also have 2 mitochondrial mutations and b/c of that I already take a complex b; so I went out and got additional b6 to add.
I have an appointment with my primary care dr thursday, and when my CF dr gets in from her trip OOC, I'll be chatting with her about this as well.

Again thanks for the ideas. I'm at my wits end here.

It also depends when you take your vitamins as some if taken together are not effective. I know you should always take iron with vitamin c. You should never take magnesium or iron at the same time as anitbiotics or anti-allergy meds and you should never take magnesium and iron at the same time. Makes it really difficult to plan and this is only the problems i know about!! I'm sure there are many more.

Yep, you can be a good weight (or a better than good weight <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> ) and still have deficiencies. I did several years ago, and now I take 2 Source CF vitamins a day (am and pm)- one chewable (more vit. D) and one softgel.
