You know the interesting thing is...Just the other day in the gym I notived a guy at the gym I go to and thought to myself "Wasn't this dude benching like 3 plates (3x45 lbs) on either side of the bar, wearing a tank top and quite huge just the other day - and now he's wearing a long sleeve shirt kinda struggling with one plate on either side...wtf?!" Then it clicked! Off cycle is a b!tch! (pardon my language) LOL And I then rememberred often periods where this dude was huge and strong then nothing out of the ordinary other than looking like someone who works out. Now I am not bashing roids or anything cause I too have seriously considerred and researched on taking steriods but decided not as I compete in a natural bodybuilding federation. From my research different steroids react differenly for the level of gains, type of gains (muscle weight, water weight, fat loss), and abilty to keep gains once cycle has finished. Also from what I gather some steroids differ with their level of side effects and organ damage - some are extremely prone to causing damage and side effects where as others can even have no side effects at all providing they are taken at lower levels and not abused! That I can believe and I do feel that the media has given them a bad name due particularly to athletes abusing them. I don't disbelieve that it's not possible even for someone with some health issues to properly use some from time to time and safely improve thier health, appearance, self confidence and a host of other things which basically means a better quality of life for them. And another note that alot of the research and opinions from people that have experimented with them that I've came accross says that it's not the miracle wonder solution, taking them without "proper" eating(meaning way more eating than normal), intense exercise (mainly weight training for the benefits dicussed here) and rest (to facilitate repair and building of muscle) it's totally pointless and you'll end up with nothing but an emptier wallet to show for it! So don't think you'll just stick a needle in your leg every few days and after a few weeks you'll be like Ben Johnson or look like how Arnold Schwarzenegger looked - it doesn't work that way. And that's just my 2 cents <img src="">

LilMac...

I agree that steroids (alone) are not a miracle drug that will do the work for you.

God knows that most of us would cut off a finger if that meant no more CF symptoms. We are not a group of unmotivated people and we would do just about anything if that meant a better quality of life. I'm on so many drugs right now to controll CF, what's one more? Seriously.....!

I have seen "healthy" people misuse steroids. But I have also seen them used properly. When used properly, they increase your appetite, makes the body hold onto protein, and then uses that protein to build/repair muscle tissue. As a result, you have more energy, strength, and confidence to live a better life. When I was using steroids, my workouts felt great. Never sore, never achy, never tired, never unmotivated. It wasn't placebo. It was one benefit of steroids.

I think it's shameful that most of us spend a good part of our day thinking about eating, eating, trying to gain weight, worrying about losing weight, losing weight, taxing our immune system, getting sick, feeling lethargic, and living a lower quality of life. ...when there is a solution.

I would LOVE for a doctor to tell me WHY steroids are not readily available for those who suffer from the wasting effects of CF. Is there really a good reason? ANY reason?

If I was 40 and my testosterone levels were too low, I could get hormone replacement therapy with a simple visit to the doc. If I am 30 and suffer from the catabolic effects of CF, it never even registers in the mind of doctors to administer testosterone (ie, steroids). That's fubar....... (excuse my bitterness and language, but this really pisses me off....)
