Julie that sucks!!! I will talk this over with Brian and see if he has any ideas. He had no problem getting an extra 2 weeks of con leave, but he did have his surgery at a military facility by a military surgeon. I will ask him tonight though!

another reason why the decision to have kids shouldn't be done on a whim. raising kids is tough and shouldn't be treated as a partime job. kids who are deprived of a parent's full attention are needlessly put through hell, and it's a cryin' shame. We live in a screwed up world, that's for sure.

I think most jobs would only give a person 6 weeks with pay. Some places don't even offer that much with pay. At my job, we have to use sick days for maternity leave and if we don't have any we don't get paid for any time off. If I would have had to take off for bedrest and maternity leave, most of it would have been unpaid leave. I'm sorry that you are having to go back so soon, but at least you got paid leave for the bedrest time and the 6 weeks afterwards. Good luck.

I was thinking about this tonight... I am sure the military is different but for me I am out on leave right now...and the federal law requires that my job give me FMLA is I qualified for it.. Must be there at least a year and have worked 1000 hours during that year... I just changed jobs so I didn't qualify for that.. so I am out on a personal leave.. I was able to, actually forced to use all my sick time, holidays and paid vacation time, once I used that I am now getting disability checks....

I know having a C section certainly qualifys you for six weeks disabilty pay.. Usually what the pregnant women in my hospital do is use their disability time, up then go into their extended illness or holiday pay.. I am sure you would have thought of that if that was an option..

Another option in the non military world is a personal leave.. for care of family members... You can actually get three months off for taking care of immediate family members... Just need a doctors note stated you are involed and important in care of the babies.. dubhhh no brainer... I am not sure about the pay but at least you would be able to be with the babies...

Good Luck...

Ouch, I can't imagine. In Canada you get 1 year off with partial pay. I can't imagine only having 6 weeks. Hug those cute babies, they are precious!
