Another military problem

Ouch, I can't imagine. In Canada you get 1 year off with partial pay. I can't imagine only having 6 weeks. Hug those cute babies, they are precious!

I would say Julie and Mark DID NOT have kids "on a whim". They had IVF, that takes time and planning.

Why do certain people here keep insisting if you work and have children then you are not raising your children correctly. It is the most ridiculous statement.

In this day and age if both parents do not work, then you CAN'T raise your children properly because you are living in poverty!!!

Julie, I use to be a military wife. I understand how difficult it can be. I do not have any helpful suggestions, but I wish you the best. I hope the doctors are able to help you get some more time off.

How are those sweet babies doing??

days a year paid leave, well 3 times a year 10 day each.  If
not maybe see if you can use up 10 of them days.  My Uncle was
in the navy and retired about 8 or 9 years ago when Cliton was
cutting military so he got a hefty bonus for retireing early.
 I will give him a call see what he thinks.<br>

Allisa, I am a hospital corpsman so I work in the medical field. As luck would have it (a bit of sarcasm) i work in the same medical clinic that is denying my leave..... go figure.

Sherri, FMLA doesn't apply to the military (gotta love how they make and impose all these rules, but they are exempt from all their own rules). The reason why is that there is no unpaid leave in the military, which is a blessing YES especially when I was on modified bedrest for those months but what I wouldn't give for some unpaid leave now, and I'd take it, even though we can't afford it.

anon, unfortunately the military instruction does not decipher how many children the 6 weeks covers, but you have to figure *most*women only have one baby at a time (common sense escapes the military sometimes), so you would think that they would say, "ok, 8 weeks, that's reasonable". When I talk to the CO I will mention that. I am not asking for 6 weeks per child, although my command thinks that I am being unreasonable for asking for minimum 8 weeks as m ydoctor recommended. I will explain to him that I think unreasonable would be 6 weeks per kid (because that would be nice, and give a great recoery but I don't think it's ever going to happen.) and I'm only asking for 8 weeks. We'll see how it goes.
