come to think of it, i was on both for about a year and noticed an improvement when i started the zithro. my numbers increased slightly as well which had not happened for a long time with the ibuprofen. i know there are other adults out there that are on ibuprofen still so my case is definitely not something that happens across the board....

sorry for the confusion tonya! and that i don't have more helpful info....

Tonya,

That's what our son is on right now. Prednisone and MWF Zithro.

He's doing very well right now. A year and a half ago they took him off Predisone to switch to Ibuprofen but he got really sick while not being on any meds. He lost almost 20 pounds and 40% of his lung function. We insisted that they check him into the hospital and after 18 days of trial and error by the staff he came home. He is now 32 pounds heavier and back up to 97% on his lung function tests. It was scary for us (needless to say) and I worry knowing that he cannot be on predisone forever and if they take him off it again what may happen. It may not even happen again but I was curious what others are using and how it was working for them. Thanks for all the info.

Hi Tonya,

I have never been on both ibuprofen and Zithro at the same time. I wouldn't think that it would be a problem to be on more than one of these medications at a time, but ask his doctor if it's a concern to you. Because ibuprofen and prednisone are anti-inflammatory drugs and Zithro is an antibiotic, it seems it would be safe to be on Zithro with either of the other two because their in a different drug category.
