My son is on Predisone and MWF Zithro as well. He is 9 and I had read up on the IB theraphy and asked his doctor. She said it causes too many stomach problems and doesnt put her patients on it. He has been healthy up till the middle of last summer. He has been in the hospital 3 times since August. We also had a scare yesterday thinking he was going to be admitted because of chest pain. Have any of you on the IB therapy had stomach problems?
He is doing ok with the sterioids and Zithro but of course he has the little chipmunk face now and he is so HYPER! Not that I mind any of that of course. But I am just curious if anyone had problems w/ their stomach on the IB.

I have not had any (more)stomach problems with the Ibuprofen. Also, while the zithromax is technically an antibiotic it has anti inflammatory properities as well which is the reason it is prescribed to us. I had questioned this as I didn't want to build up a resistance to it. The explanation I was given was that if I had a flareup of some type zithro would not have been used as an antibiotic but rather a different med would have been used to take care of the problem.

i never had stomach problems with the ibuprofen.

harriett, always ask any questions you have! this is such a great place to do that! studies have shown that high doses of ibuprofen help reduce inflammation in the lungs of kids. no studies have been done on adults (that i'm aware of!) but obviously for some adults it does work as well!

here is a link to an article about it...i'm sure if you search these forums you'll find some more info on this as well! <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071130075014.htm
