just curious to see if any of you use mirena? i was interested in it, and then i kept reading about the things that could go wrong. it's not a big percentage at all, but i could be the not so lucky one that it causes a tear in my uterus.

how about any of you that breastfeed and are on the pill? how does that seem to be working?

this is a personal question, but if you are on the pill or other contraceptive does your partner/husband pull out during intercourse or just let his little friends take a swim inside.

i'm enjoying motherhood to the fullest, but i'd like to wait a couple years before getting pregnant again

I read on my breastfeeding sites that a lot of moms use the mirena IUD with no trouble. I have also read that the pill can casue a dip in your milk supply - but some women have no trouble with it. I would go for the IUD myself (but I have not yet because I am still working out some philosophical issues with that). We are using FAM right now, so I can't really tell you much from experience as far as BC and supply go.

As far as pull-out, I don't think it is necessary - though there is always that 0.01% chance that you will defeat your birth control!

run, dont do it, BC was horrid for me while BF (of course no real chance of getting pregnant here so I dont trulyneed it so easy to say). I was having periods so I took BC simply to eliminate (was hoping) the periods, instead I started having them every 11 days it was horrible and I didn trealize how much my milk was affected until I went off of it. I also had not read about the effect BC can have on the quality of milk plus they get a % of the hormones so you ahve to consider that too. All in all ti was a bad move for me, hope it works better for you. I have no experience with IUD but if you are having a bad time with it can you get it taken right back out?

must put the disclaimer that I am sensitive to hormones and BC to start with normally

I take the progesterone only mini pill, micronor (I think is the brand name - I use the generic). I have had no problems with it. I haven't gotten my period back but wanted to make sure I didn't get pregnant. I tried FAM but my normal indicators were all different. I had to prioritize things in my life and trying to figure out my cycle while bf'ing wasn't one of them. My husband does not pull out.
