So my best friend told me that on May 18 there is going to be a great strides CF walk/run at Howard Park in Santa Rosa, California (where I live) on May 18 and I really really really really want to go. I am not particularly that interested in running, at least not until I know more about it, so I was wondering if I can just go to meet people and talk to more people who have cf (like me)? Are you allowed to do that, what are they like? I'm generally looking for more information about them, anything would help!!! Thanks All

The walks are alot of fun...I have only been to one a few years ago and it was pretty tough to walk the 7.5 miles. But afterwards, everybody met in a high school gym and told us how much money we raised. It was a good time. I remember meeting alot of other CFers and talking with them. I guess its just a good time to remember that we are normal too, just sick.

Annie,
It is a great way to meet other CFers. They are always out in the open to be safe. If you don't want to raise money, you coul make a small donation at the event. You can choose to walk or not walk. Who knows, you may just inspire some of the younger kids. I say go and then come back and tell us about it.

Every walk site does things a little different. Call or email your local CFF for info on how your area sets things up. Our site does a 2 lap system so people who only want to do half, can still participate. I tell people who ask, its not really about the walking, its about raising the money.

Most sites have food and entertainment so if you don't walk, you can still hang out and socialize. The CFF insists that people with cepacia can not attend their events. There is usually lots of purell on the tables too.

Talk to the rep first, but I think you should go!
