Are we doing enough CPT?

we have always been advised no less than 2x daily for 20-30 min sessions...as my daughter got older and more "mobile" it became alot more difficult and our doc ordered us the vest...it has been great, i can put her in her playpen (so she cant run around) and pop in a movie and its over in 30 min 2x a day. its almost impossible to get toddlers to hold still and be in the exact positions needed. so the vest has been a really good option. just wondering, do you go to an accredited cf center?? or just a regular physician? it is recommended on the cff.org website no less than 2x daily also.

I didn't realize the CFF recommended that. We have a clinic appointment in a couple of weeks so I will talk to them about it. We do go to an accredited center. We go to Children's Hospital in Boston.

I think you need to realize that even tho a clinic/doctor says something....that doesnt mean it is gospel (for lack of better words). Even if they are CF accredited!

I was diagnosed at Boston & we were initially taught CPT there, but when we were referred to something closer we "relearned" CPT.

Our clinic is well known for their CPT program & I am telling you that 5 minutes once a day isnt enough (contrary to what your doctor says). Even if you didnt do the "full" session it would still be more then 5 minutes.

Do you use a baby blanket or something on her to ease any stinging? Do you use just your hands or one of the cups (we never use the cups)? The chest area can be difficult, but its also an important section.

I prefer to be tilted when doing manual CPT, but there are times that I cant due to reflux or hemoptysis & if the CPT is good then you dont really miss the tilting much.

I would agree ewith addressing this when you go for the next appointment~

Trust me...I know doctors are not God and often do my own research. That is why I am here. I have had so many bad experiences with doctors that I always look for second opinions. Before my daughter was born I lost a son at 22wks because my doctor didn't bother to do a proper exam and there is a chance he could have been saved. I digress...

We do not use any devices when doing her pt. It is just cupping on her back for about 3 or 4 minutes on each side. This doesn't bother her and she is quite used to it. It is when I hold up her arms to get under there or move around front that she starts fighting me. Since I have been reading more posts on here I have been trying to thump each section on her back when she first wakes up in the morning and after her nap. This increase has been for a couple of weeks now.

Maybe I should push for the vest so the other areas are getting some attention. What do people think about the whole 3yr thing before they can be tipped?
