at the end of my rope

Lili has been having a lot of accidents lately. Yesterday I put them in the car to go to swimming and thought it smelled a little poopy, I asked and she told me she didn't have an accident. Well we get to the pool and Mia's class was first, I checked Lili's bathing suit and sure enough a little poop was in it. I held myself together and told her she couldn't go to class because the poop would get the pool dirty. Did she ever scream about that - she loves the lessons.

Now her poop is more normal than I've ever seen it. So it doesn't seem likely that she just can't hold it. Also she has been peeing her pants lately. Yesterday, I had both the kids come inside to try to use the bathroom and Lili said she didn't have to go. Not 5 minutes later I looked outside and her pants were completely wet.

So my husband thinks she is doing it because of the way I handle it, which may be part of the problem but my gut tells me there is more to it.

We've seen a urologist, a kidney specialist , gotten a couple of ultrasounds, did a reflux test and nothing showed any problems.

Anyone have any advice? I think I'll make an appt. with her ped. this week and run it by her. <img src="i/expressions/bathroom.gif" border="0">

Sarah, do you think it is CF related or behavioral????

If it is the latter, Jaelyn and I went thru that too. She had been potty trained and off pull ups overnight pants for quite awhile when she seemed to backslide, I guess around 4 yrs old. Accidents started happening out of the blue, some 3-4 times a week. Finally, I started spanking her for it. ***To those reading, yes I spank my children. I was spanked. My parents were spanked. We are a family of spankers but have the best mannered and well behaved kids of the lot I know*** Anywho, had to get that out of the way bc my form of discipline doesnt work for everyone! I explained to her that she was a big girl now. She couldnt pee in the bed or make excuses why she couldnt make it to the bathroom. After so many accidents, I told her next time she would get a spanking. I did have to spank her maybe 2 times after that but it stopped. No more accidents. Also, along the same lines I have a 7 yrs old step son that can vomit on his own command. I have never seen anything like it. He does it to get attention and when he doesnt want to eat his dinner. Mostly at the dinner table or when dining out is when it happens. I asked Jeff about it and he said his gag reflex was just sensitive. Well, sorry but everytime I eat dinner I dont want to stare at puke all over my table. So, I told my son if he threw up at the dinner table again I was going to spank him. And guess what, he never did it again. So, I guess what I am saying is there has to be a consequence for unacceptable behavior. Sometimes a good talking to just doesnt cut it.

Hope you guys get it figured out!!!! I know it is frustrating, I have been there!

Much Love,
Jess

OMFG I think its the age/behavioral. I had the issues with Jazmine & she doesnt have CF. I was freaking that she wouldnt be able to go to Pre K because here we were in the Summer & school started in September that year.

She pooped ok, but that was because I saw the "look" on her face & snatched her to the potty.

One time she & I were in the kitchen & she was doing "the potty dance". I asked if she had to go potty because I had my hands in some chopped meat. She said NO. I said ARE YOU SURE?. She said NO! Not a minute later she was literally peeing all over my kitchen floor.

I was livid & definitely didnt handle the situation well. UGGGG flashbacks. I still get my ire up over that one LOL!

Sorry enough about me. I know its probably a tad more difficult with the child having CF, but I really think its the age.

Just a note, I wouldn't punish if she's coughing or doing therapy, and then messes her pants. As a CF adult, I still piss my pants from time to time when coughing. Just wanted to throw that in.
