Is there a specific color for CF awareness? I'm in the process of ordering some merchandise and I'm seeing some different colored items. The awareness bracelet is blue but the car ribbon is purple. I guess it doesn't really matter but I want to make sure I'm getting the best products out there. Thanks!

from what my cf doctor told me was the money from the blue ones goes to the cf foundation and the money for the purple ones goes to the milan foundation named after that little girl (milan something?)but both are for cf awareness, but all the money for the blue ones goes to cf.

The milan foundation helps CFers out with medical bills, rent, and such when a Cfer and their family are in a tight squeeze or having a hard time makeing ends meet. We recieved a generous grant from them last year when we really needed it. I usually do fundraising ONLY for the CF foundation because I believe in the research, but this year I am sending out information on both foundations-they are both legitimate.

quick off topic quest involving the Milan foundation. Has anyone else had a bit of trouble actually recieving the awareness bracelets? and how long did it take you to get them?

yah i ordered mine in november, and just recently emailed them about it. they said they send it out this week end. although that was last sunday so im not sure if they meant last weekend, or this one. *shrug* it will get here at some point.

as for the origanal topic, im pretty sure purple is also the color of child abuse or something else. so if its awareness your hoping for id go with the blue ones. other wise go with which ever one you wish to support

the blue and purple are both for cf.....and both colors are also used for other awarenesses...many many...i have the list somewhere if anyone wants to know what other awarenesses they are used with.

i ordered mine from the milan foundation (the purple ones) and got them in a week and half..i ordered 6, had no problems ordering or recieiving them

I ordered 10 blue ones fromt he cf foundation the end of december and have yet to get them...they told me i would get them no later than jan 17th...still no bracelets. i think they run into braclet shortages since they make you order a minimum of ten...some people just want a few. my opinion

i do like the option of having blue and purple since alot of men and boys wont wear purple....its a girly color they say

My boyfriend and his 16 year old brother and his big manly father all wear the purple bracelets because of me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I could be wrong, but I think the Milan foundation is run by a family of a CF child. Not to make an excuese as to why the bracelets are taking so long to get to you, I belive there aren't an unlimited number of people involved in that particular foundation. but they do come through, they did for us. When I called to talk to someone from the foundation, it was actually the woman's home. Just thought that might help the curiosity of "why does it take so long".

I just wanted to mention that when you order the bracelets you may want to order child size. I originally ordered adult size and they came in and were way too big. Just thought I would let you know, child size may be better for women/children. The adult size is probably good for men.

I had the same experience from the milanfoundation. My order took about 1 1/2 months, but I kept calling her and she always got back to me. I would be worth calling just to make sure they've been sent out.
Also, I am curious if anyone knows how the milan foundation actually helps cfers? I know what their mission is, but how do they determine who gets financial assistance, etc? There really isn't too much as far as who they help on their website. Has anyone gotten assistance from them? I'm not saying they're not legit, but just curious if any of us could use their services and what we'd have to do to qualify?
Thanks,
SRH

What I did is emailed them at the address that was listed on the website. Then someone emailed me an application to fill out. I faxed back the application with all relevant documents (rental contract, credit card bills, car insurance, pay stubbs...) and three weeks later I recieved a check from them.

Needless to say, in the CF fundraising that I am doing this year, I am sending out information on behalf of the milan foundation as well. I feel the CF foundation is very important and vital in their work towards a cure for CF, but I also think it is important to support other "foundations" that help CFers with some daily struggles. They helped us by food for christmas, and I definetly feel like it's important to give back what I get. If anyone else is interested in raising any money for them (it goes to support families of CFers, who are taking care of CFers in tough times) I know they would be extatic to send some information to anyone who inquires.
