Bad Fingernails

Not all buffers are the same. Mine is a silky smooth buffer and you would never think it could do anything, it is so soft. I never use the other sides of the buffer block. My nails are very strong.

"Buffing nails encourages blood flow to the nail bed and creates a smooth, shiny, and healthy looking nail surface. Use a fine buffer rather than a coarse buffer on nails. Buffing can be done on bare nails or over polish, but use care over bare nails. Buff gently and down in one direction. "

Should I be buffing my nails?
No, it is not necessary and takes away the layers that give the nail its strength. If you must buff the nail, do so only once or twice a year using a natural buffer. Also, buff in the direction the nails grow, not side to side, to avoid splitting.

I think the key to my nail success is keeping a base coat on ALL the time. I use OPI if anyone cares, and by using the clear base coat you cant tell if it's chipped so you really only have to do it once a week.</end quote></div>

I've heard O.P.I. is a really good polish to use because it lasts longer than other brands. Might have to give that a try...
