Bad Fingernails

The only problem Kj has with nails, is biting them <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

She gets acrylic french nails put on every so often. Though these can thin the nails out.

She does get white spots on her nails though. I think it is from calcium deficiency though. She also has vitamin deficiencies.

Kj's skin around her nails gets splits and tears. Do other people get them and is it from clubbing? Kj has mild clubbing.

Add me this list. My thumb nail as tons of ridges and flake something horrible. When I am bored, I peel away. I have lovely clubbing... tried fake nails and none of them fit (my fingers and just to broad). My toe nails are not much better-- super hard and hardly ever grow.

I also can't keep nail polish on. The only place it sticks in the middle of each nail-- peel off with 24 hour of application even with a bottom coat and top coat. I am so careful, too. I don't even bother anymore with nail polish on my hands.

Those buffers actually damage your nails. I know the immediate effect is nice but I wouldn't reccomend them. I think the key to my nail success is keeping a base coat on ALL the time. I use OPI if anyone cares, and by using the clear base coat you cant tell if it's chipped so you really only have to do it once a week. Oh and I don't let them get too long, I cut and file once a week other wise they break because they get long and typing etc takes it's toll, besides I want nice looking nails...not claws.

Not all buffers are the same. Mine is a silky smooth buffer and you would never think it could do anything, it is so soft. I never use the other sides of the buffer block. My nails are very strong.

"Buffing nails encourages blood flow to the nail bed and creates a smooth, shiny, and healthy looking nail surface. Use a fine buffer rather than a coarse buffer on nails. Buffing can be done on bare nails or over polish, but use care over bare nails. Buff gently and down in one direction. "
