Be careful fundraising "for a cure"

If they are so interested in protecting their trademarked foundation name and avoiding confusion re. who people are donating to, then they need to focus on anything that may fraudulently use "Susan G. Komen" or "Komen" in their slogan! With SO many diseases that are seeking cures, they have NO right to try and own the word! Oh this angers me so much. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

It has turned more into a business and less about the cure. Sad. I will not be supporting or purchasing anything "pink" again. I will however continue to support smaller organization like was already said.

It is frusterating to watch because breast cancer is not the only disease that is taking the lives of so many. Yes, cancer is a HORRIBLE disease, but there are so many other types of cancer and diseases (CF) that could use focus as well.

Sherry,

I sooo appreciate your attempt at fairness and giving them the chance to respond. That is the kind of thing I like to think of myself doing. It is such a shame that they essentially confirmed that they feel entitled to OWN the phrase "for a cure" as if they invented it and were the only ones to ever thing of using it.

Lik Harriett said, if they want to protect their trademarking and avoid the "stupid folk" who accidentally give to the worng chairty, they should focus on their BRAND name SGK -- not try to own the rights to a phrase used in all sorts of disease fundraising.

Its all such a shame and infuriating. I will continue to support breast cancer, but not with SGK ever again.
