Big bellies...

I was just about to post about this, but you beat me to it.

I've always had a medium+ size tummy but lately it's been ridiculous. It's been so noticable that when I went home for easter... my mother who hadn't seen me for a few weeks, asked "What on earth is wrong with your stomach?" ._. Thanks mom.

Lightnlife can you please post the links to the stuff you were talking about? I am mainly curious to the cause of this, because nothing I do seems to make it better. Even if I don't eat for days when I'm sick, I still have the tummy. :/ Maybe it is my liver and other stuff in there...

Thanks!

Yes, I'm PS and I still have it. When I got pregnant it got worse and made me look like I was showing right away. What's funny is I called it my "kangaroo pouch", which is exactly what CFers seem to call it. I wasn't diagnosed at the time...
Right now my belly looks about 3 months preggo I think because hypothyroidism is making it worse (slowing down my digestion). I find that anything I do to speed up my digestion or relieve gas helps. Exercise/stretching and eating high fiber foods like granola cereal work best for me.

I have it too...it has gotten a bit better since I started taking Viokase enzymes with big or greasy meals (the others I have tried have just made it worse), and for some reason, when I started taking Hypertonic saline it got a bit better (no the doctor doesn't have a clue about that one either, lol), and has improved even more since I started on insulin. When my blood sugar is high, the bloating is worse.

I got a lot of the "When are you due?" comments too, which were really painful when we were dealing with 10 years of fertility problems *grumble*. I also wake up with a "normal" looking tummy that proceeds to "grow" as the day goes on...<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

"... my mother who hadn't seen me for a few weeks, asked "What on earth is wrong with your stomach?" ._. Thanks mom."

Sevenstars, gotta love the honesty of family!!!

I have this problem too and have tried various things unsuccessfully. I think I could live with it if its always the same size but because it changes all the time, I keep thinking well what's causing this, surely something is out of balance? Some days, usually mornings, it looks ok and other times preggo. Dr suggested adjusting the enzyme dose, and adding Losec but no real difference. At first I was convinced it is a food allergy, but my most recent theory on is: The bowels are not emptying properly, even tho you have regular bowel movements. This blockage causes the swelling when you eat because the food cant move along swiftly. Not sure why it happens, but guessing due to undigested fat or mucus secretions or dry stools. I say this because I have just done 2 separate courses of Cloxicillin, and Clox gives me diarrhea (not painful or extreme but constant the whole time I am on clox), but the whole time I am on clox, I have one 100% great looking flat tummy. One could always argue that the clox is killing off some bacteria that grow in the bowels, and this stops the bloating, but I am going with my first theory.
