Blood works was very bad today!

My husband goes to all the out of town CF appointments and when we used to go to the local CF clinic, he would go as well. I actually needed him there a few times when I got into a few arguments with the nurse/doctor about our concerns with cross contamination issues. I tend to get emotional and teary and he pretty much lays out the facts. Plus those appointments usually lasted 4-5 hours. It's good to have a second set of ears, especially if your child needs your attention and you aren't quite able to hear everything that's being said.

With well child appointments and office calls, I'd prefer that he come along from time to time, but sometimes one of us has meetings. In any event, we'll discuss ahead of time any concerns or questions we may have.

Poor baby and poor mama. I'm so sorry. And I agree with everyone else, there is definitely a better way. If the person drawing blood can't get it after two pokes. Take your kiddo and say, "we'd like someone else." I'm from the midwest and it's hard for me to be assertive, but I've learned to be for my daughter. Also, as far as the hubbies go, we really try to go together. It is a tough day, the blood, throat culture, entertaining them in the exam room. If he can't go, I find a friend or family member. Don't feel like you have to toughen up or face this alone. This is CF and it's a hard thing to face. We alllllll need someone.
