During my last Hospitalization my doctor talked to me about Reclast as an I.V drip drug for the health and developement of my bones, as we know are more vunerable to fratures and breaks cause of malabsorption of calcium and other vit essential to bone growth, especially as we get older.
I was a perfect candidate for the drug and I went ahead and thad it administered . It took 15 min to administer the drug and everything felt right for the rest of the day. In otherwards no side effects until 48 hrs later. The doctors downplayed the side effects to me . I felt like crap for 4 or 5 days.
Well I just wanted to mention to my peers that the side effects to the drug are flu like symptoms including fevers, nausea, and several others. The benefit outwayed the risks. Im writing to let others know that the symptoms came 48 hr later, and lasted for 4 or 5 days. My symptoms were, Flu like symptoms, high fever the first night and low grade for 4 days after, upchucking for two mornings 48 hrs after the drug and other than that Im hoping the benefits will outway my yucky 5 days. I would recommend tylenol and perhaps some sort of nausea drug. Remember these are just suggestions to ask your doctor about if Reclast is introduced someday. The internet has lots of info on Reclast which was helpful. Im looking forward to stronger bones and less fractures. I hope this helps. I guess Reclast can be done outpatient so be sure to ask about insurance coverage.
Reclast is a drug that has only been around for 3 yrs but lots of studies and research done which includes CF patients. Just be sure to be well informed about the drug before going ahead with it. All in all it worked out good. Im over the symptoms and feel strong again.
