Bone Pain and Cystic fibrosis

Yes, I sometimes get severe bone pain... I have such a hard time staying positive when I am in a flare up.... SOmetimes my joints hurt so bad that I can't lift my hands over my head to take a shower and wash my hair... I don't have a corelation yet as to it being related to flare up, usually if I don't get enough rest, slept wrong, or if I am getting sick... I am in pain.....

I don't take anything for the pain because narcotics make me vomit and I don't want to take them anyway, sometimes I can take way to much advil and tylenol together and sit in a hot tub and I can get the edge off but that is about it..

Bone Pain is not fun by any stretch.

If it seems to be related to how your lungs are doing, i would suggest it is hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy. It is a long name, I know, but it is usually associated with pulmonary conditions.

Here is a quote from a book I have. "Hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy is an inflammation of the bones, arms and legs, which often accompanies chronic conditions of the lungs and heart. Symptoms of hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy include finger clubbing; bone pain or swelling of the wrist, knee or ankle; and new bone formation which may be observed on x-ray. This disorder is usually associated with pulmonary disease, and the symptoms may worsen during pulmonary exabreatons. The symptoms may be mild or may mimic those of rheumatiod arthritis."

Does anyone have back pain and neck pain? I have both and when my neck needs to "crack" I have severe shooting pain into my head like a very bad headache, once I take Tylenol, I guess it reduces the swelling, I am able to crack my neck and that seems to help the head pain. But not much helps with the lower back pain. Just wondering if its just me or if anyone else has these problems? and what works for you?
