Yes, there is tremendous amount of different information on the boards.
Keep in mind that the eFlow has its own set of rules. Its structure etc. is so different from PARI's other products, that you MUST adhere to the methods that they tested in the lab when studying the product.
The methods I use for cleaning haven't been handed down to me by my parents. I didn't start using a nebulizer until high school. We were taught to clean them in the dishwasher.
You're right about not letting things air dry. You're supposed to use a lint-free (i.e. not a tissue or paper towel) cloth to dry them.
Tiffany, I'm not sure what you mean about PARI and Foundation Care saying "no" to boiling. I spoke with both of them on the phone today, and they said YES to boiling. I'll follow up again with CFF and Foundation Care.
One thing I learned today is that the cleaning and disinfecting procedures are typically developed by the FDA. As to whether those methods are acceptable for CF patients' infection control measures remains to be seen. I'll definitely be hunting down that information. If all else fails, maybe I'll bust out my mad scientist skillz and do a benchtop validation study myself. Hmmm....that might not be a bad idea.
Remember folks, there is a difference between sterilizing (to be done daily) and cleaning (to be done after each individual treatment. There will be more information forth-coming on this topic, seeing as how it's so important to the community. You're right, there should be absolutes, and we're in the process of flushing one out for you.
