my husband doing a nightime bottle feeding has never worked, he has offered and tried but I jsut wake up iwht sore full boobies so its not worth it. For us its better if he gets her, changes her, brings her to me, takes her back and then lets me get a nap during day so if it doenst work for you there are alternatives. Also, that is good she took it the first time and from you, that is not always accepted since they know there are the 'real thing' around, you may want to make sure she had an infant flow nipple and when Lillian first started taking a bottle we had to give her mylicon becuase she got more air which is common when switching to bottles at first.

ok, morgan will start daycare on january 2nd and i have only given her two bottles, both times on road trips. she doesn't like taking them at all, maybe it's the bottle or nipple i'm using. it was so messy and milk got everywhere.

right now i am using the nuk brand. i looked at some playtex nipples i have and they seem alot smaller. i might try using those because i have small nipples and i think that would be easier. i need to start giving her bottles so she won't refuse them at daycare.

the daycare is about one mile from my office, but i'm not sure if i will be able to leave three times a day to go feed her. i know i could at lunch, but i don't want to take advantage of my boss.

i need to go get a new breast pump tomorrow because the one i have is dieing out. its a medela, but it's about ten years old. anyone have any suggestions? i heard the avent brand does a pretty good job.

next week i will let dustin start giving her a bottle and i will pump while he's feeding her. does that sound like a good idea? any advice will be appreciated, i know y'all have it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Babies won't starve themselves forever though you may find she reverse-cycles - that is she nurses more at night to make up for taking in less during the day (if she doesn't want the bottles or doesn't eat much). It is very common among breastfed babies in daycare (doesn't mean she will do it though).

How many times a day will you pump at work? 3? My personal recommendation is a medela pump in style. They're pricey but you can find them used on eBay. All you'd have to do is buy new tubing and the part that touches your breast (totally forgot what it is called). They say they're for single person use only but really the risk of getting something from someone else when you're using new tubing, etc is just about nil. Mine was used, I used it a little bit, my SIL used it for about 6 months and she'll use it again when her next baby arrives in march.

If it were me in your position and I could leave at lunch to feed her I would. Will you also be able to get food in you at some point. If so I would definately go see her mid day. Trust me you will miss her so much and it will give her an opportunity to nurse.

I now use a manual Avent Isis which is much better. It has a silicone "petal" that increases the suction but it leaks unless you dampen it slightly before putting it on. Still, I need hospital grade suction so it's worth the effort. I'm still considering buying the Avent Isis Duo (double electric).

When my breasts are full but I'm too busy/tired/lazy to pump, I manually express my milk directly into an Avent bottle since they are wide neck. I never used to do that but when I saw my SIL do it I realized how easy it is. Not sure if you tried that so thought I'd mention it. I know for work you need a really good double electric pump. My SIL has the Medela PIS and likes it-I know that comes with a travel case for work.

You wouldn't be taking advantage of your boss by leaving to feed your baby once a day. That is perfectly acceptable and may help empty your breasts better than a pump will, which is good for your supply.
