If your clinic is far away, what do you do in between the 3 month appointments for illness, exacerbations, etc? Our clinic is 45 minutes, so we can always go in if we need to.</end quote></div>
We travel 3 1/2 hours each way. So if something comes up -- last year a classmate of DS' got Influenza A, as did a close friend and coworker of ours -- so I called. The doctor has the service call him and he usually calls us right back within a few minutes. A script for tamiflu was waiting for all of us at the pharmacy the next morning.
This summer, we did take a quick day trip for a CT scan due to the local clinic indicating DS had mid-lobe infiltration & enlarged heart on an xray. We'd rather make the trip and get things taken care of ASAP than have to local doctors either guessing or refusing to treat because of their ideas as to what's "normal" for cfers -- that they always cough, always have bad xrays..
