Chest pains in 8 year old

Emily has gotten pain in her chest with a 'honking' (for lack of a better word, it's hard to explain) kind of cough a few times in the last 6 months and it's nearly the only time she ASKS to do her treatments, too- she's come to me w/ shallow breathing because it hurts to inhale and it scares her too. I am glad she realizes her treatments will help her feel better (and it seems Austin does too, which is a very good thing!) It's been associated with viruses that have progressed to bronchitis and thus far always improved as the antibiotics kick in.

I'm so glad that Austin is feeling better and hope that the Augmentin knocks out the rest of this bug!

I certainly don't think you are over reacting. My 24 yr old when she gets the chest and back pains it usually means there is a plug. There have been times she sounded clear and not bring anything up with treatments no fever but pain one day and 2 days later her nurse call line listens and says they now hear crackles and little air movement at that point she ususally ends up getting antibiotics.
