when you guys say you cough as well, is it right after the treatment or hours after? Rickie will do his nebs in the morning and still be coughing when he gets home from school. Maybe this is normal. And through out the day I'm told by his teacher.

Thanks for all your comments<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

i had a lot of trouble tolerating tobi. It gave me laryngitis for the full month when I was on it. I had a constantly irritated throat which made my cough very dry and scratchy- I would cough constantly all day and night the entire month as well. My doctor told me some irritation is normal for the first week or so, but that usually the cough dies down after that. With me it didn't and we switched to Colistin which I tolerated much better. You do have to keep in mind that cipro and tobi are antibiotics and will be killing off the staph and pseudomonas. I find that the first few days on antibiotics, whether oral, IV, or inhaled, my cough is much much more productive as everything dies and I cough it up. Additional chest pt helps speed this process up.

Aspergillus probably won't be helped at all by being on tobi. Sporanox (or itraconozole) will be what takes care of that.

Tobi can be rough, and yes, sometimes it does get worse before it gets better. Usually when a person is started on Tobi, especially with all those bugs, it takes awhile to "clean house" so to speak.

I have been on TOBI for a long time now and I notice the month that I am not on it I have a really hard time with dry cough at night and therefore not sleeping well and just in general not feeling as well during the day in terms of energy and cough. But when I am on the TOBI I have good nights and more energy during the day.
