Colistin Alert

It has to stay refidgerated until use. It's okay to use cold. Warming to room tempurature right before you use it won't increase the hydrolysis significantly, but the longer it is out the worse it will be. It is always safer to use right from the fridge.

I have been using the pre-mixed Colistin for the e-flow for at least 2 years maybe 3 and never had any problems with it. I receive a months supply that comes cold with ice packs and is kept in my refrigerator. I truely believe this case is due to something else or maybe a bad batch or something like that. Yet, my doctor wants to be cautious and have me mix it myself until we know more. Oh how I hate this process!!! I do wish I had been more informed at how dangerous it could be after mixed and not refrigerated for a long time. I just thought it wasn't as effective. Now at least I will be a little more careful with taking it. It still has been the best antibiotic I have aver taken and done wonders for me! I have been on it for at least 5 or 6 years inhaled. Been doing it non stop everyday for the last 3 years. I just hope that this gets solved really quick!
I also feel so bad for the girl that went through this and died. How awful! I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't some mistake made by a doctor or hospital or nurse after all the screw ups I have been through. I probably would have died by now if I hadn't caught a number of mistakes that had been done. Always be careful!!!
