I have taken anywhere from 3 - 5 classes a semester. I usually take three. I have always found that less stress leads to better health. I have been in a two year college for 4.5 years, but I maintain above a 3.5 GPA, and taking less classes, I feel contributes to that. Good luck!!!

it depends so heavily on how your health is.

i took 4-5 classes a semester and graduated with a b.s. and a b.a.

i just finished my masters and i was able to keep up with that schedule as well.

but every CFer's health is different, so you should do what's best for you.

I also went to a community college and started out part time in the fall of '99, along with working at a hardware store from 4-9 on most nights. I did fine with that, other than the normal infections that I would get so I started full time in January 2000. I had also moved closer to the college so that made it easier too.

Anyway, I got to the point where I was going to college full time and working two jobs (one at a gas station and one at a video store). I did miss a lot of classes with being sick but all of my professors knew that I have CF (because I told them when I first started taking each class) and they were all fine with me making up work and exams. I got really sick in April 2002 (right before graduation) and had to go into the hospital and have surgery to stop bleeding in my lungs. I got better, was released from the hospital, and was back to school the next day because I only had about a week before finals. All of my professors that semester were willing to let me take the exams later than everyone else so that I could have more time to study but I told them that I wanted to take them on time because I had a wedding that I needed to finish planning.

I did all of my final projects and final exams on time and passed all of them. The only regret that I have is that somewhere along the lines, I could have done a little more studying because I was only .05 away from graduating college with honors.

Anyway, I know that a lot of CFers cannot handle this schedule, but if you think that you can, it's the best way to go so that you're not in school forever. I graduated in May 2002 with an Associat's degree in Business Administration and I'm glad that I graduated then because I got married, sold our place that we were living in, moved 90 mins away from where we were, and bought a new house. I only got sicker after that and there is no way I would have still been able to be in college if I didn't finish when I did....it would have been way to hard with how sick I was getting.

Good luck!

I go to school online. It seemed better for my health, and fits well into my schedule. B/C of that I am able to take 4 classes a semester. (I am also a full time mommy and wife so im busy).
