I will give you my experiences & thoughts but as with everything I am sure opiinons vary.
Hubby & I used condoms after I had my daughter, but before I got my IUD. Although they served the purpose I was not fond of them even with the lubricants because of the vaginal dryness that I have connected to CF.
I never used Birth control pills, but I would be leary of them due to the antibiotics many of us take. Dont know enough about them to really know how much of an issue that is, but its definitely a thought.
I love my IUD. Its not bothersome with the dryness or worry about ineffectiveness due to meds. I was a bit worried that my weight loss/gain would cause a problem, but its 9 years next month with NO problems.
Many woman love the diaphrams also, but I didnt want the bother of inserting each time just like with a sponge. SOOOO that is my feedback!

The pill gave me stomach aches when I took it after my daughter was born (I had only taken it for about a year 9 years before we had her). This was also after the time that I had a bout of pancreatitis, and that they (finally!) found the stone in my bile duct. I have "fatty liver" and my (cf familiar) gyn said that it may be liver pain (bc pills can cause bile thickening apparently) and took me off of them.
The bc pills that I took while breastfeeding (I know they are different, but I can't remember what they are called) didn't bother my stomach/liver as much (?).
I am planning on asking my gyn (probably next appointment at this rate <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) about the Nuva ring, if it would bother my liver, and if I can use it to skip periods.

There are two formulations of pills - combined (estrogen and progestin) and progestin only - because we don't want to give nursing babies estrogen (!) the progestin only pills are given to women who are breastfeeding.
