In the last week, I have not been able to fall asleep due to coughing, about four out of the seven nights. It is extremely frustrating, as I have started a second job, working nights and weekends (not every day though). After work at night, I simply want to go to sleep, but I can't. I have ZERO other symptoms and do NOT cough that much during the day. I have had no fever, no aches, no stuffy nose...and my PFT's three weeks ago were the highest they have been since January.
Does anyone have tips on what could be causing this? Do you have any suggestions on how to stop it? Currently I do one set of breathing treatments a day (in the morning)....do you think maybe I should up it and do one at night too? I am out of ideas. It was pretty bad last night and I ended up taking cough meds b/c there was no other way I would have slept. I know that is bad, but...
I am thinking of calling my doctor tomorrow (since I doubt he is there today) to see what to do. If I have some suggestions to give him that would be great, because I doubt he will jump right to IV's especially with no other symptoms and I really don't want oral abx...
FYI--I finish my month on of AZLI on Friday and usually the coughing is better while on AZLI...
*****UPDATE: It is definitely not simply reflux. Unfortunately, I have not stopped coughing all day, had low grade fever for a little bit and can barely talk. It is now 7:15 and I have yet to talk to the doctor! The nurse called me back at 11:30ish and said she would talk to the dr as soon as he came in, which I am assuming was probably 1 PM (she said probably not reflux, based on the constant coughing, and she did say something about my culture, so maybe that will give me an answer)...so I called back at four when I still had not heard and am still waiting. Very frustrated right now, this cough is miserable!!!!
