Daughter having pain when breathing

First thing that comes to my mind is a plug. A stubborn sticky plug that dont want to move until its forced. It could be Pleurisy , but Pleurisy doesnt usually only last about an hour. Thats usually a longer term thing. Anytime ive had it , it lasted weeks. I was thinking it almost sounds like a stubborn plug that is stuck and trying to move. I am going by what you say about how she says if she forces a deep breath it will start to go away That really sounds like a plug. Pleurisy does not start to go away with deep breaths. If you have pleural rub ( which i had) you aint taking deep breaths for a while. The rubbing is very painful . Only an xray will tell whats going on when it happens.

I've had the exact same thing, and breathing incredibly deeply seems to make it go away, almost as if there's a block that needs to be pushed away. I have no idea what it is, but I usually just force myself to take that deep breath.

And congratulations to your daughter on how seldom she gets lung infections. I'm in the same boat, and I hope, for her sake, that it stays that way. Make sure she gets some time alone with both her pulmonologist and pediatrician every time you go in for an appointment so they can build a relationship independent of you. It will be an invaluable relationship once your daughter becomes a teenager.

I remember having that type of pain a lot as a kid too. I think it was just a mucus plug or something, because it always went away after I cleared it by taking deep breaths or getting CPT. It happens on occasion nowadays as well, but I remember being pretty upset about it as a kid.
