Dealing with the Holidays

So we dealt with a head cold and fever last week when we had relatives visiting. I spent the early morning hours on Friday listening to DS breath and checking his temp -- worrying about the what-ifs, the future, whether his cold was going to turn into something worse.

So being a little fragile from DS illness, I've started worrying about Thanksgiving. Whose going to show up sick this time claiming it's only a "cold" when they're hacking and feverish. My MIL is soooo concerned about image and what others might think so god forbid we embarrass her when we DARE ask about someone's health. Heck, she's too chicken to tell someone to put out a cigarette around her grandson at her lake home in the summer.

Guess all we can do is be vigilant. Remind DS NOT to drink out of other people's glasses. Why do people think it's okay to let children do that. Heck, I always go GET the child their own drink. Just a little vent -- tired of dealing with the dysfunction of both my family and my husband. Sometimes I think we should just run off somewhere tropical for the holidays.

I think that is a great idea. IM sorry it if it is out of line to say MIL is worrried about asking someone to put out there cig. How do you stay sane I would want to excuse her from the family ha ha if it were only that easy!

Families -- putting the FUN in Dystfunctional, lol! That is SO true for us too! I could go on and on with stories like yours but instead I will leave you with this thought:

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say...

A tropical holiday sounds fun!!

I am right there with you holidays can be stressful especially in regards to CF families.

However I can't imagine a holiday without them. The chaos is what makes it fun and memorable.

Good luck!!
