Did anyone watch Larry King?

well, as someone who also chooses not to vaccinate, I do take offense to the poster calling me insane.

I researched vaccines before my son was even born and after much thought decided against vaccinations for him, and even after he was diagnosed, I still did not want them. I did not want his immune system spending its time fighting the vaccines, but would rather his immunity be spent towards fighting off illnesses that he might have incurred this winter.

I'm not saying that I'll never get them, but right now this was a decision that I made.

My son who has CF has gotten all of his vaccines and I regret it. I was scared into it by the doctors because I hadn't done enough research to back up why I didn't want them done. I didn't know what went into them or about the diseases he was getting vaccinated before. Now that I have a one month old I am doing my research and am going to wait on vaccines and then be very selective when she does get them. Anyone with any questions needs to read WHAT OUR DOCTOR MAY NOT TELL YOU ABOUT CHILDREN'S VACCINATIONS by Stephanie Cave M.D, F.A.A.F.P. It tell's in detail about the vaccinations and talks about both side's of the story. It's not a one sided book!

I did vaccinate my daughter who has CF. My son who falls on the autistic spectrum hasn't had another shot since he was 18mos old and started showing symtoms soon after. I do believe that the vaccines had something to do with my son's autism...was he predisposed? probably...but he will never have another shot! But my daughter has gotten all her shots and gets a flu vaccine every year. I don't know if I'll get the other shots she needs when she gets to 7th grade. My husband and I will talk about that when the time comes. It really should be the parents choice! Those shots are scary!

hopeful mommy, we sound like were in the same boat. i do not know if i will decided to do them when she is older. i keep thinking about it and the more i don't want to get them. the only reason i would is so that she is accepted into society. i've said the same them about the vaccines too! i told the dr.s that and they look at me like i'm crazy. (about the immune system) i have one dr. even go as far as to asking me HOW OLD I WAS. yes i may be a young mom but that has nothing to do with my decisions as a parent. thats why i do not go back to that clinic. tomorrow she has a developmental peds appt. and this wed. a birthday vist. which sucks because she has only been out of the hospital for 2 months now and they did all of that stuff in there when we were there for 3 weeks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> i know they are going to pressure her father and i because they seem to do that just a little bit. but they aren't that bad. nick (her father) likes to put them in their place. it kinda makes me embarrased, but it's like they are all brainwashed or something. i don't know. but all i have to say is that i would NEVER judge someone that wanted or doesn't what the shots because they feel like they are being the best parent that they can.
