Did your parents do anything special after CF Checkups?

We had to travel 2 hours up to 2.5 hours to and back from clinic. I have to say that really clinic visits wore me out completely. My mum and dad were very tired after it too. Didn't matter how much I needed to do there.
So usually I was just very silent in the car back... and glad to be home again.

We used to go to Ikea sometimes after clinic.

But that was it really.

We did get something for lunch at the hospital most of the time. Just because I had my appointment at 11 am most of the times... And it was lunch time when were done. No MacDonalds for us, no-one of us likes that

now that Jess is a teenager and it is no longer 'cool' to hang out with her mom, I have to admit I sometimes look forward to clinic days. we have some of our best conversations then, especially in the car on the way there or on the way back. just one on one, so rare these days.

except for the incredible stress of waiting to see if something is wrong or not quite right (hey, if I got examined like that who knows WHAT they might find) it can actually be a very pleasant time.

I hope she feels the same way. I'd ask her but she's mad at me right now. who knows why.

In my days (sometime after the stone age), My mom would take me to Burger King, or something like that. Since I don't recall eating much in the am and having to wait so long for X-rays, bloodwork, etc., I was starving by 1pm!
Of course, when I got older and could drive myself to Children's Hospital (No adult clinics started yet in those days!), I'd treat myself to Burger King! (Of course I had to pay my own way LOL )
Then, cause I had the rest of the day to myself (took the whole day off of school), I'd relax!

Garran has Pulmonary Rehab three times a week and for a treat for doing well at rehab we go to Starbucks afterwords. He always gets a Short Mocha Latte with extra whipped creme and extra chocolate, and I get a Tall of the same

On Tx clinic days we usually go to Target or Walgreens if we have prescriptions to pick up and he picks out a toy, cause clinic days are an all day event with X rays and labs etc blah blah blah, and then he has Rehab after clinic, so he is whiped out, so I guess I spoil him a little.

by the way Walgreens has some pretty low priced toys.

the guy at Starbucks knows Garran by name now. but he just calls him his little buddy...

Between him and the Steak guy at Harris Teeter, they both love Garran. (Garran loves steak! and Coffee!)
