Happy Wednesday!!<br><br>I am curious how many of you have a handicap/disability parking pass?<br><br>I am interested because during the winter months it is hard for me to walk from a building to my car without coughing to the point of vomiting. I am not disabled, but it is hard for me to function during winter months i.e getting groceries, shopping, etc. <br><br>Thank you,<br>

I have one, my FEV1 in the time I got it has ranged from 24-30%. It is pretty sweet to have especially in the city.

No problem, I think winter is hard for everyone on here. I have come to appreciate winter though, I think I do better in a colder dryer climate. Glad the CS has had a positive effect on yet another person. Let us know in the other thread about your APBA and if it helps any.

tiffany got one and it was a big help. I think her PFTs were around 50 when she got it. If I remember right it just took a note or prescription from the dr. office and bring to the DMV -- she wouldn't always use it though because then it forced her to walk but at times, it was just the best thing to do was to use it especially if she needed to not be coughing by the time she got to wherever she was going.

I got my parking pass when my PFTs were consistantly in the 30s and I had a hard time in the cold and/or humidity. I didn't quite reach the criteria all the time, but I was close enough that my doc signed off on it for my bad days with the agreement that I wouldn't abuse it. After all, walking is good exercise. I filled out the top half of the form and he filled out the bottom half and sent it in. While I used it pretty rarely then, as my CF has progressed I have been very happy to have it.
Here in CT, the CF-applicable guidelines for eligability are:
1. Use of portable oxygen
2. Inability to walk 200 ft without stopping
3. Restriction because of lung disease to such an extent that forced (respiratory) expiratory volume for one second, when measured by spirometry, is less than one liter, or the arterial oxygen tension is less than sixty mm/hg of room air at rest.
