I also teach 5th grade. I find it kind of hard because I work a lot of hours either at school, or planning on the weekend. Honestly, I don't know how I would do it if I wasn't working because I would have no money. I am single so do not have a husband to support me.

I know I need to quit for my health but can't afford to. I would love to hear how other single people do it and manage to have money for living expenses and traveling. I feel like I am just digging myself a hole with working and getting sick.

To answer your question more, if I were you I would look into working part-time. That way you could still focus on your health while also still doing something active. If you don't have to work full time I wouldn't. Better to live life to the fullest rather than work just to work

I was a preschool teacher for 3 years; then I got sick and had to quit. I was off for about 3 years when I got a desk job as a credit manager/risk specialist with a credit card company. I worked full time at 40 hours a week up until last year (aprox. 13 months)and then I went to 32 for 6...bumped it up to 35 and am hoping to get back to 40 soon!

I am right now working as a supply teacher about 2-3 times a week and finishing my masters of Education in Special Education. I really love teaching so far; and look forward to start full-time work once this school year is over. I at times find it difficult to manage everything but I find time to take care of myself. So I haven't been sick in a year which is good. I agree with everyone the best option is always the option that allows you to live life the best.
