ABSOLUTELY! We have had animals our whole married life, and I can honestly say I have never gone more than a month or two since I was born without an animal living with me. Right now we have three dogs--Boni, our awesome lab mix, Batista, our clown of a boxer, and Shorty, our little Lhasa Apso powerhouse with a really bad-a** attitude--and five cats--Lucky, the boss of house for 16 years, Twinkles (don't laugh--my daughter picked his name when she was five! LOL), my baby, Tigger, the tiny boy, Prissy Missy, the white angel, and Tippy, so-named because of his handicap (cerebellar hypoplasia), that makes him so much more lovable! Throughout the kids lives, we have also had our beautiful girl, Casey, a yellow lab/beagle cross, that we lost to cancer a few years ago--still miss her every day, and our Sadie-kitty, who we lost a couple years ago. We also had two bunnies--Bob and Punkin--but had to give them away due to Alexa developing a bunny allergy.
Missy is Cody's kitty, and even when he is doing his vest treatment and bouncing away, she will sit on his lap and meow and rub against his face, and just adores him. He loves all the other animals, too, but not as much as her!
One of Cody's doctors has tried convincing us to get rid of the animals (I personally think he just doesn't like animals! LOL) for years, but in the last couple years, I guess he finally figured out that NO means NO! He ran the whole battery of allergy tests on Cody, and he is not allergic to a thing, so he finally gave up. All of his other docs have always seemed fine with it.
Yep--we love our animals, but like others have said, if there EVER comes a day when I would have to choose between Cody's, or DJ's or Alexa's, health and the animals, their health comes first!!! Until then, my babies are staying.
