Do You Wear Face Masks?

Thank you for your post. I can tell you with confidence that I
don't have OCD. I'm not afraid of the germs and I don't feel like I
have to wear a mask to go anywhere. I do use hand sanitizer, I have
one of those nifty little purel covers that attaches to my purse
and it all over my house. I wear them because after I started
wearing them, I haven't had an infection. I see people in my
classes get sick, and it goes around the entire class. and I don't
get it.

I'm going to continue to wear them, like I said before, they aren't
hurting anything. But thanks for your post.and thoughts
Like you said, since you have the mask on your face, you probably keep your hands away from your mouth and nose. Hey, whatever works for you that you feel comfy with. I've only ever worn one when my son was getting his Picc line placed at the hospital and I was by his side so I had to wear it. I felt like it was hard to breathe and hot.

Haaaaa.....okay I'll try to be nice about this....but seriously the idea of wearing a mask everyday and to school and stuff....he he he that just makes me laugh til I could pee my pants! My Doc would .... a brick and check me into the looney bin but that's just me. Seriously I'm not that scared of germs. I am just not going to live like that and all evidence says that's not that useful anyway. But I'm with Em..if you sleep better at night because you do that...than hey more power to you.

I have to say it takes a lot of confidence to go around in a mask all the time! I don't think I could even if I wanted to!

What do you do if you meet someone you like or are on a date? Must be difficult if they can't see your face.

I don't wear them in my personal life, but I do at my doctor's office. Everyone has to wear them there and I'm fine with it. I tend to pull at them constantly anyways, so it would be a huge distraction for me every day, plus I wouldn't want to deal with people not understanding.

But whatever works... good for you! If it doesn't techincally block infectious germs, maybe it's mind over matter. Again, whatever works!

Hi David.

You made me smile when I read your post because you reminded me
that I am in a long-term relationship with a wonderful boy,
and have been for 2.5 years. He takes my disease seriously, but
lightheartedly in our day to day life. He has always treated my
disease as just another part of me, like hair or eye color. He is a
wonderful person.

Thank you for your kind words about confidence. You really did make
me smile.

Hope you are well.
I can guarantee that when you're on a crowded train, and someone with a cold coughs without covering their mouth, the bacteria, etc., will become airborn.

But, as far as catching colds, the body usually gets infected when it is tired out and can't fight it any longer (If I'm correct).

It would be beneficial for me to wear a mask when I'm out in public, but that is one thing I'm a bit too self-concious about. Besides, until they design a mask that won't fog up my glasses when I'm wearing the mask, then I'd rather go without.

I will, however, wear a mask when I'm spray-painting my models (mostly cause if I don't and when I blow my nose, the spray paint colour comes out!), and usually when I'm cleaning a VERY dusty room.
